Beware of the other gospel
Dear Friend,may the peace and blessings of the God of Abraham be your portion in Jesus name.
With strong conviction, l take the liberty to conclude that you will agree with me that we are in an unprecedented time,not just about the current unpalatable economic situation all over but particularly in the body of Christ.
Many strange things are happening on a daily basis.A clear confirmation of the coming END.
It is also important to note that the spiritual deficiencies we see in this end-time are in line with the scriptures.
If they do not happen,then the Bible will not be complete-God forbid.
In this short sermon, we shall be considering the “other gospel”.
While l am trusting on the Holy Spirit to expressly expand His word and give you perfect understanding,may l humbly ask you to please put on your honest and deep thinking cap.
The reign of the “other gospel” is now so loud and embraced by many, such that it takes grace and discipline for one not to be part of the bandwagon.
Not forgetting the warning of our Lord Jesus in Matthew 24 vs 24-25:For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand [NKJV].
Sadly,gone are the days when truth plainly rules and prevails.Gone are the days when the fear of God was a normal norm.Gone are the days when the majority see and practice Christianity as a sacrifice.Gone are the days when money was less emphasized and not the driving factor in Church planting or ministerial calling.
Beloved,one reason that is responsible for the wide gap between generations past and now is because of the entrance and emphasis on the “other gospel”.
Quite a large number of us,are conscious or unconscious victims caught deeply in the act of celebrating the “other gospel”.
Please let us slowly and carefully read what Apostle Paul says in Galatians 1 vs 6-10:I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel,which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ {NKJV}.
I am very sorry to bother you but please go back to the above passage and with rapt attention,read each verse slowly and carefully.
Let us now ask ourselves,What is the “other gospel”?
1.The other gospel is any preaching that is contrary or not 100 percent in line with the words of Christ.
2.The other gospel is when a preacher silently or loudly lays emphasis on his/her personal benefits at the detriment of the gospel of Christ.
3.The other gospel is when our worldly existence and sustenance is placed higher than our heavenly citizenship.
4.The other gospel is the evolution and adoption of doctrines that cannot be traced to our Lord Jesus Christ.
5.The other gospel is any subtraction and or addition to the Scriptures.
6.The other gospel is when focus is either silently or loudly placed on man rather than God.This is when men demand and or receive honour that should unquestionably be given to God.
7.The other gospel is when we engage in any activity/action that is pleasing to men while at the same time that particular action is disobeying God.Acts 5 vs 29 says we ought to obey God rather than men.
8.The other gospel is when we primarily seek miracles,we pursue miracles,we promise miracles,we demand miracles while salvation is sparsely sought or of no interest.
9.The other gospel is when preachers/men purposefully twist the scriptures for their selfish interest,making attempts to cover their secret sins.
10.The other gospel is when we celebrate the world and not the Word.
11.The other gospel is when we pick and choose the part of the scriptures that soothes our narrative for the purpose of gains.
12.The other gospel is when the so called “Men of God” claim they have new insights and disqualify the teachings and words of the revered Apostle Paul (who had a physical and genuine revelations of the Lord,and,wrote almost half of the New Testament).
13.The other gospel is when so called men of God place premium on building big auditoriums,use the congregation as a number and gateway to their own physical riches,all at the detriment of building a holy and heaven focused congregation.
THE DANGER:
Please let us again read verses 8 & 9 of our anchor passage
Here we see Apostle Paul by the Spirit of God stating- if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.No wonder we are having multiplication of problems all over,many places that are supposedly places of blessing are indeed accursed because the “other gospel” has been used to replace the gospel of Christ.
Does it mean the situation is same everywhere? The answer is NO.
Though very few,but there are still genuine and very truthful believers who are standing righteously by His grace for Him,just as we read about God’s confirmation to Elijah in 1 Kings 19 vs 18.
The salient question is can you and l be counted as part of the few?
Beloved,Christianity is a personal relationship with God.We are individually accountable to God.
You and l need to break away from tradition,we need to seek the truth.Whatever it will take us,we need to strongly desire and stoutly stand among the few.
Remember Matthew 7 vs 14 says Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
May the Lord purge you and l and permanently remove every trace of the “other gospel” from our lives in Jesus name.
